Frequently Asked Questions

BEFORE

General Questions

1. What is Bespoke tailoring?
Bespoke tailoring is the process of creating a custom garment from scratch. Please see Bespoke in Services for more information.

2. How does Bespoke tailoring differ from Made to Measure and Ready to Wear?
Bespoke tailoring involves creating a unique garment for each client, while Made to Measure adjusts a pre-exsiting Collection design to fit the client. Ready to Wear garments are pre-made in standard sizes. Please see Bespoke and Made to Measure in Services for more information.

Process and Appointments

3. What is the process for getting a Bespoke garment made?
The process typically involves an initial consultation, measuring session, fabric and colour selection, production confirmation and up to 3 fittings, usually 2, (intial and final adjustments). Please see The Process in Services for more information.

4. How long does it take to make a Bespoke garment?
It usually takes 1-9 weeks, depending on the complexity of the garment and the difficulty in sourcing the materials, (in the texture and colour requested). If it is found after the initial consultation, but before production, that the time estimate is longer than discussed, a client call will be made, to allow the customer to decide whether to proceed with the order.

5. Do I need an appointment?
Yes, appointments are vital to ensure that we can dedicate sufficient time to cater-to and understand your needs.

Measurements and Fittings

6. What measurements are taken for a Bespoke garment?
The kind of measurements needed vary per garment, but generally measurements of the chest, waist, hips, shoulders, arms, and legs are taken, along with posture and body shape assessments. These will then be added to a body shape in a PDF and be sent to you as part of your final order.
The price of measurement is included in the overall cost of the Made to Measure or Bespoke garment; however if measurements are taken and the garment is not ordered or cancelled, the measurements will be charged at £7.

7. Can I bring my own measurements?
Yes, we would love to work with your measurements for Made to Measure and Bespoke garments. However, by sending in your own measurements, you accept responsibility if - your garment does not fit accurately and it is proven the garment was to the measurements given whether or not they were accurate.

8. How many fittings will I need?
Typically, 1 to 2 fittings are required to ensure the suit fits perfectly. We aim to keep each clients fittings to 2 (intial and final) in order to expedite the cost and time by creating a toile (an early version of a finished garment in another fabric) so that the design can be tried on and corrected in the 1st iteration, and perfected by the 2nd and final fitting.

9. What should I wear to my fitting and measurement session?
Wear a t - shirt or fitted shirt, and leggings or fitted trousers to ensure accurate measurements. Please aim not to wear loose clothing as this may affect final numbers.

10. Can I bring a friend or family member to my appointment?
Yes, you are welcome to bring someone along for a second opinion.
.

DURING

Design Selection

11. Can I choose my own design?
Yes, with Bespoke tailoring the garment is uniquely designed to your taste. In your consultation you will discuss with us how we can bring your idea to life - with Made to Measure, Made to Order and Ready to Wear these options are not available. Please see Bespoke in Services for more information.

12. Can I alter any designs from cenya.kf’s Collection
Yes, in Made to Measure you can alter an advertised dress. In your consultation we will discuss what alterations you seek to make. If the alterations change integral and structural features of the garment a Bespoke garment will be encouraged - with Made to Order and Ready to Wear this option is not available.

Fabric and Colour Selection

13. Can I choose my own fabric?
Yes, clients can choose from a wide range of high-quality fabrics from ethical shops around the world.
You may choose the fabric in 6 main colours with no extra charge: black, white, red, blue, green and pink.
Any Made to Measure or Made to Order garment can be made with colours other than the main 6, but will be charged at an extra £3 per metre.

14. Can I bring my own fabric?
Yes, of course we love the idea of recycling, reusing, not being wasteful and most importantly choosing a fabric you can be completely satisfied with. However, by bringing in your own fabric, you accept responsibility if - your garment does not lay or fall in the way you may have anticipated.

15. Why must I pay £3 per metre extra on certain colours?
We charge an extra £3 per metre on certain colours because it is hard to keep various fabric types in a multitude of colours in our storage facility. Therefore to facilitate your colour we will go and source it. The average garments uses 2 to 3 metres of fabric meaning that the average added cost will be £6 to £9. This will be included in the final price.

Cost and Payment

16. How much does a Bespoke garment cost?
Prices vary based on fabric choice, colour and complexity but our garments start at £50 and typically range at £80.

17. What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept bank transfers and cash.

18. Is a deposit required?
Yes, a 30% deposit is usually required at the conclusion of the first consultation to begin fabrication.

Please Keep in Mind

While I will endeavour to do my best with cenya.kf to produce the best pieces possible, sewing is my hobby and I have not been formally trained in garment creation or dress making. Along the journey I may make mistakes, but I will do my best to be accountable and accomodating in every way, while adhereimg to the rules above.
